Yes there is a skid plate. Of the several oil changes done at dealers and oil change joints, only one removed the skid plate to get to the filter. (and then they left out a bolt replacing the plate ). Myself and others place a small container and absorbent cloth under the filter to catch the sizable drip from removing the oil filter, while leaving the skid plate in place. The engine drain plug is easily reached without removing the skid plate.
No skid-plate in the way?
