This video shows a Toyota Tacoma with a Thule 422XT Xsporter installed using XK1 adapters to attach the rack to the Tacoma's bed rail tracks. Also installed are two sets of Thule 883 Glide and Set kayak carriers. It's important to note that the 422XT can raise and lower at five diffrent settings. On this Tacoma, however, this feature is limited due to the positioning of the Xsporter uprights over the wheel wells for the forward uprights and the inward angled in-bed storage compartment for the rearward up rights.

@akdisney The XK1 attaches to the lower edge of the Toyota bed tracks. Sorry don’t have tool box fit information and we don’t have inside dimensions for this install.

What size of a crossover Tool box fit in 58″ or 54″ that fit inside of the Thule Truck Rack adapter XK1 make my own bracket to suport the box.
This it the Thule 422XT – Xsporter, you should also consider the Thule Professional 375 truck rack. You’ll get a higher weight rating and more positioning options with more distance between the bars for long loads.

is there anything i should know before i make my own roll cage? i was just ganna weld together segments, do i need to bend the bars? or can i just weld them together at corners

It could be 1-5/8 or 1-3/4 DOM or chromoly tubing.
Note I stated fusion welding as these material properties are non desirable attributes in liquid-phase welding but desirable in solid state welding.
Some materials respond better to different methods of fusion bonding, both MIG and TIG have their advantages, the HAZ in MIG is beneficial with some microstructures so it is not just a case of mig is for bitches that cant weld equally TIG is not just for alu, alu can be MIG welded too, however its low melting point and high conductivity impede fusion welding.
You guy’s should’ve shown how to weld the tubes 360*. Make more vids too.

tigs for aluminum i dont think that having a roll cage of aluminum would be very smart. so it would most likely be mig or stick.
