Question by surgnurse06: My 1998 toyota tacoma"s gas pedal gets stuck when I take off. What does this mean?
I have to push down on it hard before it takes off and it hesitates at first.

You need to see if the throttle cable is binding and needs to be lubricated.

All gas pedals are cable driven, meaning that there is a cable running from the foot feed to the throttle .
If the cable frays it will stick, do this. Open the hood and locate the cable. Unhook it from the throttle and work it in and out by hand. It should work freely. If not then it is binding in the housing and time for a new one.
Call Toyota and check on the price. It is a dealer item only and you need a new one.
yah, cable is giving probs. Both guys above could be right. Try lubing it first.
