  3. I have a Valve cover gasket leak..It blew white smoke out of the exhaust pipe,I smelled anti freeze and shut it down.. I confirmed that antifreeze has gotten into the oil,But I believe it did not overheat extremely. Are we talking about the same repair here?..Any reccomendations?

  4. Hi, I’m looking at doing mine myself in a few weeks. What advice do you have for me that you did not mention in the video. My research so i found.

    Use only gen toyota gaskets
I will be changing the intake gasket , pcv valve while i’m at it.
I also heard to use some sealant on the corners of the gasket, and to tighten the vavle cover bolts in a spiral pattern. If this correct and do you know of any other information out there that will help me guide through this process.
    Thank you.

  5. Hi Steve, i have a question for you im a owner of a 92 Toyota 4Runner with Auto transmission, 4×4 V6 3.0L SUV i’ve been hearing weird noises when i start her up when she is cold, when she starts the RPMs are between 800 and 900 rpm, then after the noise dissapears after 5 seconds the RPM goes up to 1100, what it could be?, btw when im at the highway at 80kmh she wont shift to 4th, and the RPM range is in somewhere 3600 and 4000, then after a while it doesnt accelerate and dies. what could it be?

  6. where does the evap hose connect to?

    hehawaiiau22December 3, 2011 @ 7:25 am
  7. @hehawaiiau22 Contact your local library to provide the Toyota service manual with a year make and model.

    SteveXnycperformanceDecember 3, 2011 @ 7:43 am
  8. You know the hoses that you said to label…forgot to label them. Please help…especially with the evap hose.

  9. @REDT4R1 you should consult the service manual. If the 3.0 and 3.4 came install from the factory, then it is possible to perform the swap with ease

    SteveXnycperformanceDecember 3, 2011 @ 9:24 am
  10. Do you have any vids on how to swap a 3.0 to a 3.4??

  11. does anyone know what Toyota’s Diesel trucks have a chain-used camshaft? Thanks.

  12. what is a fair price to pay to have these gaskets replaced?

    Luna7ickDecember 3, 2011 @ 10:10 am
  13. @SteveXnycperformance no the sensor doesnt come up but i will try replacing the fluid and check out the lucas oil thanks alot

  14. Does SES(engine)light appear while driving?scan it for a code. The cause might be the over-drive solenoid. Inspect the transmission fluid for discoloration and burn smell.I would recommend replacing the trans fluid and filter. Add on bottle of Lucas Trans slip to condition all seal and clutch.

  15. okay this doesnt pertain to anything in this video but i own a 1991 toyota pickup its got the 3.0v6 and an automatic transmission and it will not kick in to overdrive until it is running at normal temperature and then when it does get up to this temperature the truck will randomily kick out of overdrive sometimes do you maybe know the problem?

  16. A faulty mass air flow(MAF) will also cause performance issue.Replace the O2 sensor at every 50-60,000 miles.ALL VACUUM LINE(air intake system) MUST BE AIR-TIGHT or the MAF senor will display a false data to the ECM,which will cause the engine to perform poorly.

  17. Remember, the Mis-fire will occur if the valve seat are not 100% sealing the combustion chamber,And worn/stretch-out timing belt will cause this to happen. Please do a compression test on all the cylinder and compare all the cylinder psi. Psi rating should be with-in 5-10psi amount all cylinders.Does the ECM display(SES light)a issue?.A Mis-fire will cause a flashing SES light(dash cluster). Make sure its a Mis-fire code by using a scanner.

  18. @SteveXnycperformance I have the Haynes manual, which is helpful but I still cant find that specific line. I also have replaced the distributor cap, rotor, ignition wires and spark plugs. This engine is old(220,000 miles) and needs a few things replaced(I’m finding cracked/worn electrical wires). I will check the O2 sensors and injectors next. Your video and advice are much appreciated!

    slaminaevil6December 3, 2011 @ 1:03 pm
  19. @slaminaevil6 It will be best if you consult the Toyota service manual for a vacuum diagram.Oil leaking on the spark plugs will not cause a Mis-fire.You might want to inspect the distributor cap, rotor and ignition wire. Also remove the spark plug and inspect the electrodes and make sure the porcelain is not crack.Toyota(imports)are known for burn oil at hi-mileage and this will cause a foul spark plugs and O2 sensors.you should also make sure the Mis-fire is not cause by the 4&6 injectors

  20. I have been trying to figure out where a vacuum line goes(it’s in in your video at 2:35 located from the air intake. closest to the “V6 3.0 EFI”). I have been combing the internet for information on my 1994 4Runner. I have an oil leak exactly where this yours seemed to be(the 4 and 6 cylinders aren’t firing). i know it’s one of many problems, but it would be awesome if you could get back to me.

    Thnx 4 the video!!

    slaminaevil6December 3, 2011 @ 2:24 pm
  21. hahah super vid. i have same runner and same 16v. loved the ” i appear to be a professional, so i dont have to label”
