Headers will increase HP and TQ. I have JBA’s becuase they are CA legal, but if you don’t live in a commi state then there are multiple options. Search your year for headers on google. For even more power there are underdrive pulleys which reduce drag on the engine making more power. Unichip sells a programmer that can be custom tuned to your truck and its add on’s, they claim more hp. Supercharger will give the most hp as will turbos, but these are pricey options.

cat back is just a replacement exhaust from the headers back to the tail pipe.

    heep100February 13, 2011 @ 5:50 am
  3. @heep100 Oh one more thing what are cat backs do you know?

  4. @heep100 Well i have a tundra and all ive done to it is add the k&n cold airintake system and put a flowmaster/magna flow exhaust, even though i did see and feel the change i wanted a little more. I heard headers are the way to go but wasnt to sure. As you see im not the smartest guy when it comes down to cars. So headers will increase h.p you said correct? What brand or type should i go for what would you recommend? And what other upgrades can i do for more h.p? OH &Thanks for all the info!

No problem. Headers open up the exhaust so the engine can exhale better. Your engine is really a big vacum, the more you bring in and out the more performance you will get. Stock headers are very restrictive. Each exhaust port flows into the same header tube, while having headers each exhaust port has its own tube that meets together at the collector. They provide more power, but really changing your exhaust will only produce more sound.

  6. Hey bud i know this might seem like a stupid question but im very serious, what exactly do headers do for a truck? AAre they basically for more noise?

  7. Sounds great!

  9. @heep100 Exactly TS Kicks but and so does Socal tundras…

I wish i was ballsy enough to do the work myself but I’m just gonna switch out the exhaust with a BA Muffler from Dirtydeedsindutries…. kick ass sounds… i believe that’s his channel name too! Good Luck! Great Truck!

  13. NOw that I have been driving it more the computer has learn and I can feel an increase in power throughout the whole RPM range. If you have worked on other cars before and are fimilar with tools you will be fine, it just takes a while. You have to remove the motor mounts on the driver side to access two nuts. The passenger side you can work around. You need to support the engine from underneath with a jack and a piece of wood under the oil pan. Look on Tundrasolutions, theres alot of info!

    heep100February 13, 2011 @ 2:05 pm
  14. how are these headers in all like can you feel the performance gain and acceleration? Also i plan to do this myself and im a knowledgeable 17 year old that can do this. but you said i have to remove a motor mount?? so will the engine need to be hoisted?

    SkinnyPimpYYZFebruary 13, 2011 @ 2:51 pm
  15. wow a truck that sounds that good

    gunman50calFebruary 13, 2011 @ 3:05 pm
  16. Sounds Good!!!!!!!!!!!

    CHEVELLEDAVEFebruary 13, 2011 @ 3:47 pm
  17. The JBA’s fit perfect with no leaks, but they are a pain to put on. You have to remove the motor mount on the driver remove the stock manifold. It not that difficult, just takes a long time.

    heep100February 13, 2011 @ 4:43 pm
  18. nice job. sounds great. i have a 2002with trd exhaust. thinking of headers soon. how did the JBA’s fit.

    sturomainFebruary 13, 2011 @ 5:19 pm
  19. Hey their cool truck i guess quick question and im serious to, what exactly do headers do for the truck? besides make it noisy?

    silverdiaz7February 13, 2011 @ 6:03 pm

  21. Nice Truck R3SET! I’m gonna soon put in a BA Muffler… those things are freaken loud…. your exhaust sounds nice and throaty too! Check out my vids… i have a stocker 06′ 4.7L too…

    GeoThundraFebruary 13, 2011 @ 6:55 pm
  22. @puppi350 edit: maybe 315hp with mods,,,

    GeoThundraFebruary 13, 2011 @ 7:07 pm
  23. @puppi350 I think you are confusing it this truck with a V6… this truck has about 280… maybe 300 with mods…. tundras are really reliable for a gasser… Diesels are better for towing… different application different use… a V10 dodge… too much gas! Both not real necessary for the average dude,,,,

    GeoThundraFebruary 13, 2011 @ 8:02 pm
  24. @puppi350 cuz its fun. i kno my tundra isnt that powerful but its still cool

    yotawayFebruary 13, 2011 @ 8:44 pm
  25. why are you testing exhaust sound inside a parking garage….wow seriously

    puppi350February 13, 2011 @ 9:39 pm
  26. why would you put money and all these mods into a truck that makes 236hp ??
save your money and buy a diesel.
the only truck worth modding is the srt10 ram.

    puppi350February 13, 2011 @ 10:17 pm
  27. hey man i have a 2000 trundra and i was looking at the jba long tube headers have you hear any good things about them??? and right now i have a magnaflow turn down system cat back but i heard that thats not a good thing to run it kills your mpg??? i cant get this dam truck to get over 13 mpg its killing my wallet! i went down to toy Connection in Santa Clara and they were not much help!!

    jlabate11February 13, 2011 @ 10:50 pm
  28. now im running a zex 75 shot you should give that a shot

    wtfusaypunkFebruary 13, 2011 @ 11:00 pm
  29. Hey wtf, this is Rivas (from the video). I only dropped in a K&N filter in the intake. The next 2 projects are the anit-sway bar in the rear, and replacing the bench seat with a woofer box. The box will come probably after the bar, still working on designs for the box. Take care, bud.
